If we can’t agree to stand up for our country, what can we agree on?
Lansing, MI – Days after anti-Israel protesters chanted “Death to America” in Dearborn, we have yet to hear condemnation from many of Michigan’s Democrat leaders in Lansing.
The dangerous rhetoric was covered by outlets from around the globe where instigator Tarek Bazzi, a local activist, previously stated that he would consider it an “honor” to be placed on a terrorist watch list.
“Even in these divisive times, our elected leaders should be able to stand up for the United States of America and its people, regardless of political party. Some things are bigger than politics” said Zach Rudat, Advocacy Director of the Michigan Freedom Fund. “Unfortunately we’ve heard nothing but crickets from leading Democrats in Lansing who cannot bring themselves to stand up for the most fundamental American value: The existence of our country itself.”
At the Dearborn rally, Bazzi quoted Malcolm X, stating “We live in one of the rottenest countries that has ever existed on this Earth,” and that America “does not deserve to exist on God’s Earth” for supporting Israel.
Tarek Bazzi has a record of similar dangerous rhetoric. At a 2021 anti-Israel protest in Dearborn, Bazzi advocated for the annihilation of the Zionist regime, stating “Martyrdom must be sought after.” Bazzi also stated in a deleted Instagram post that it would be an honor to be placed on “the terror list of history’s biggest terrorists.”
Last October, House Democratic Leadership received national backlash for refusing to pass a resolution condemning the October 7th Hamas attacks in Israel.
