Lansing, MI – In the coming weeks Lansing Democrats will try to jam through as much bad progressive policy as possible before they lose power in the State House. Instead of doubling down on their failed agenda, we encourage Democrats to stick to doing what voters want: work across the aisle, save tipped wages, and let the progressive nonsense die in committee.
If tipped wages are not saved in time, 50,000 workers will lose their jobs, hundreds of thousands of workers will see a pay cut, and 1 in 6 Michigan restaurants will close their doors indefinitely.
“Michigan voters spoke loud and clear last week: they are done with the radical left agenda that ignores and exacerbates the growing cost of living crisis. They want economic freedom and they want it ASAP,” said Zach Rudat, Advocacy Director for Michigan Freedom Fund. “Democrats have a choice: they can learn from their failures at the ballot box, change course in Lansing, and save tipped wages, or they can continue to toe the line for their partisan handlers at the expense of Michigan workers.”
For months union leaders in Lansing have pressured Democrats to sit on their hands and do nothing to save tipped wages. House and Senate Republicans have been ready to save the restaurant industry for months, and voters resoundingly agreed with their urgency this fall.
