Will Senate Democrats Follow Suit?
Lansing, MI – This morning House Republicans took an important step in their fight to save jobs and livelihoods.
The Select House Committee on Protecting Michigan Employees and Small Businesses passed House Bills 4001 and 4002 with overwhelming bipartisan support and zero objections from Democrat committee members. The move sets the stage for quick movement on the House Floor, and further action (or inaction) from Senate Democrats.
“Right out of the gate this term Republicans are capitalizing on their new House majority, listening to the pleas of Michigan workers and job providers, and leading the way on a plan that will save jobs and livelihoods across the state,” said Zach Rudat, Advocacy Director for Michigan Freedom Fund. “Republicans’ common sense solution is quickly gaining bipartisan traction in the State House. Senate Democrats will soon face a choice: Will they choose to work across the aisle to lower costs, save jobs, and save livelihoods? Or will they choose higher prices, layoffs, and pay cuts?”
The Republican urgency of this fight is a stark contrast to the months of inaction last term under unilateral Democrat control when Democrat leaders sat on their hands at the request of their partisan handlers.
