Earlier Orders Required 70% Vaccination, but State Only 60.6% Vaccinated
LANSING, Mich. – Michigan Freedom Fund Executive Director Tori Sachs today reacted to Governor Gretchen Whitmer shifting Michigan’s reopening from July 1 to June 22, even though the benchmarks she had set previously have not been met.
“Today, Governor Whitmer proved once again that her lockdown orders and restrictions have never been about the science and data. July 1 was arbitrary. June 22 is arbitrary. Instead of following political science, Governor Whitmer should end the restrictions today.
“Michigan’s COVID restrictions have been the most extreme and longest-lasting in the country. Our recovery from COVID-19 under Governor Whitmer’s control is 51st in the nation. Michiganders will not forget the destruction that occurred under Whitmer’s health orders that she herself refused to follow.”
