Legislation Passed, Introduced Today will Make it Easier to Vote, Harder to Cheat
LANSING, Mich. – Michigan Freedom Fund Executive Director Tori Sachs celebrated the State Senate’s passage of common-sense voter ID bills and the introduction of important legislation that will expand residents’ access to no-cost photo identification and other vital documents like birth certificates:
“The Michigan Freedom Fund applauds the Michigan Senators who today approved legislation requiring photo identification to vote, a common-sense reform that will enhance the integrity of our elections.
“Over 70% of Americans support voter ID laws and the additional legislation introduced today will ensure everyone has access to photo identification. These simple, pragmatic reforms will strengthen confidence in the security of our elections and make it easier for Michiganders to participate in everyday life. We applaud these Senators for their actions today, and strongly urge Gov. Whitmer to sign these measures into law when the bills arrive at her desk.”
