Inflation broke a 40-year record. Gas prices are out of control. And Governor Whitmer just VETOED a bill that would have let you keep more of your money – AGAIN.
Yes, Whitmer has vetoed multiple bills now that would have lowered the gas tax and other taxes you pay. But she doesn’t want her supporters to know that.
On Thursday, Whitmer told her followers: “I’m ready to sign a bill that provides immediate relief to working families.”
And less than 24 hours later, Whitmer vetoed another bill that would have let the people keep more of their own money.
WHITMER VETOED RELIEF FROM RECORD PRICE INCREASES. AGAIN.
Inflation in the Whitmer-Biden economy rose 8.6% in May – hitting yet another 40-year record.
Gas prices across the state are already at record highs and still climbing. A gallon of gas in Oakland County now costs $5.31, and the state average is $5.22 a gallon – 23 cents more than the national average, and a $2.14 increase from last year.
Michigan families are struggling, and Governor Whitmer seems determined to deny them any relief. In March, Whitmer vetoed bills that would have let families keep more of their hard-earned money. In April, Whitmer vetoed gas tax relief.
Then on Thursday, Whitmer tweeted, “I’m ready to sign a bill that provides immediate relief to working families right away.”
But less than 24 hours later, Whitmer vetoed another bill that would have let people keep more of their own money.
These callous, political vetoes are an insult to the Michigan families, workers and seniors desperate for relief from the record price increases happening on Whitmer’s watch. Make no mistake, Whitmer’s policies – and vetoes – are making things worse.
