Happy Independence Day!

Shortly after the Constitutional Convention in 1787, the story goes, Benjamin Franklin was asked what our Founding Fathers had produced – a monarchy or a republic. “A republic, if you can keep it,” Franklin responded.

These are troubling times. A global pandemic. Civil unrest. Leftist mobs destroying monuments to the very Founders who entrusted us with the great “American experiment in ordered liberty” – and prominent abolitionists who fought to complete their work and extend that liberty to ALL Americans.

And here in Michigan, unprecedented (and unconstitutional) power grabs from the Governor. Government by fiat, without transparency, without accountability, and without end.

But through it all, we’ve seen you. We’ve seen your commitment to Franklin’s republican government. We’ve seen your spirit of liberty. We’ve seen your dedication to personal freedom and your demand for a return to government of, by and for the people, not simply the Governor’s secret inner-circle.

The Constitution still matters.

In Michigan, we’re still free.

This Independence Day, that’s worth celebrating.

Sincerely,
