With Poll Numbers in the Tank, Whitmer Abandons Biden and His Vaccine Mandate
According to a Tweet from Elisabeth Waldon, the news editor at the Greenville Daily News, Whitmer told Howard City community leaders: “We’re an employer too, the state of Michigan. I know if that mandate happens, we’re going to lose state employees. That’s why I haven’t proposed a mandate. We have a lot of the same concerns… it’s going to be a problem for all of us.”
Whitmer has issued dozens of unconstitutional, anti-science lockdowns and other pandemic orders – through both her state health department and through executive orders – that led to the elimination of thousands of jobs, drained savings accounts, permanently shuttered small family businesses and devastated the state’s economy.
Poll numbers showing Michigan’s upcoming governor’s election will be a toss up come after Whitmer has been reluctant to impose new mandates that are now unpopular. More polling shows that a majority of Americans don’t believe the federal government should have the power to impose Biden’s vaccine mandate.
“Gretchen Whitmer has only been interested in one kind of science – the political kind,” said Tori Sachs, executive director of the Michigan Freedom Fund. “Whitmer had no problem locking Michigan workers out of their jobs and imposing nonsensical mandates while she campaigned for Joe Biden last year. But today, with a majority opposing vaccine mandates and her own poll numbers plummeting, she’s abandoning Biden and his vaccine mandate. Hundreds of thousands of unemployed Michiganders and the thousands of small businesses the governor closed forever can only wish she’d abandoned the Whitmer-Biden mandate approach sooner.”
