During World War 2, General Eisenhower led the Allied Invasion of Europe at Normandy on D-Day. He understood the tremendous sacrifices necessary to oppose tyranny and the vigilance required to defend liberty.

Our prayers are with the people of Ukraine, the innocents still in harm’s way, and the brave who are fighting against tyranny.

We can’t take freedom for granted. Our team here at the Michigan Freedom Fund is working hard to defend our Freedoms at home. Here is a rundown of the news you won’t find anywhere else in this week’s Frontlines of Freedom!

The state government has billions in surplus revenue, while people are struggling with rising prices and record inflation. Republicans in the state legislature are working to cut income taxes to give that surplus money back to taxpayers.

Michigan’s Democrat-majority Redistricting Commission decided to give themselves a taxpayer-funded pay increase, even though they’re running a $1.2 million deficit.

And the Kalamazoo Circuit Court struck a major victory in the fight to unmask Michigan kids.

INFLATION AND INCOME TAX CUTS

Michigan’s state government has billions in unspent surplus revenue. Meanwhile, families are struggling with rising prices and record inflation in the Whitmer-Biden economy.

This week, Representatives Matt Hall and Thomas Albert introduced legislation to cut the state income tax and return this money to Michigan’s hardworking taxpayers.

Republicans in the Michigan State Senate passed similar legislation earlier this month that would also cut the state income tax rate from 4.25% to 3.9%.

We applaud the Republicans in the state legislature in Lansing for prioritizing taxpayers.

REDISTRICTING COMMISSION GIVES THEMSELVES A TAXPAYER-FUNDED RAISE

Michigan’s Democrat-majority Redistricting Commission is facing a $1.2 million budgetshortfall, multiple lawsuits challenging their maps, accusations of bullying, and even a lawsuit from one of their own members for a missed FOIA deadline.

Their work is mostly done, so obviously, the Commission decided to reward themselves with a 7% taxpayer-funded raise.

This latest scandal is a slap in the face to working families who are struggling with rising prices. It’s clear that this dysfunctional, majority-Democrat commission isn’t done wasting Michigan taxpayer’s time and money.

FINALLY! A LEGAL VICTORY IN FIGHT TO UNMASK OUR KIDS

The Kalamazoo Circuit Court dealt a blow against forced masking this week. A county judge issued a temporary injunction and restraining order against the mask mandate at Comstock Public Schools.

The ruling found school bureaucrats had violated the nondelegation clause of the Constitution – the same clause that the Michigan Supreme Court cited when they struck down Governor Whitmer’s use of unilateral executive orders in 2020.

This is a victory for parental rights and the rule of law. Governor Whitmer, Attorney General Nessel, Congresswoman Slotkin and other Democrats get to choose when they don’t wear a mask, and it’s time parents and students have the same freedom of choice.
