Michigan parents are mad, and who can blame them? After more than two years of senseless, destructive education policies from unelected bureaucrats and Democrat politicians alike, they’re taking matters into their own hands.

Governor Whitmer vetoed tax relief for drivers, workers, families and seniors earlier this year, but suddenly wants to send out $500 checks with her name on them as Democrat polling numbers hit record lows.

MUST SEE VIDEO: While Michigan families struggle with rising grocery bills, record gas prices, and worsening supply chain issues, Whitmer is still proudly “ridin’ with Biden.”

EDUCATION FREEDOM IS POPULAR WITH PARENTS

The left knows they’re in trouble this election season — a new NBC News poll shows “The Democrat Party” is the most unpopular political figure or institution in the country.

Instead of reading the room or the Virginia election results from last year, Democrats are doubling down on their fight to control our children.

The Detroit News: Educational freedom is popular with parents this election

“Gov. Gretchen Whitmer vetoed school choice scholarships for students, so parents are taking it upon themselves to get it done. Volunteers right now are collecting signatures on citizen-initiated legislation to send a new education funding proposal to the legislature for a veto-proof vote.

“The effort, dubbed the Let MI Kids Learn campaign, would invest up to $500 million more every year in our state’s education system by allowing taxpayers to personally and specifically fund new student opportunity accounts for kids across the state.

“Student opportunity accounts would provide direct support to families by helping them pay for online classes, summer school and after school programs, textbooks and curriculum materials, Wi-Fi, laptops, mental health services, behavioral and speech therapies, transportation, tutoring, tuition and a lot more.”

Let’s put Michigan children first and give parents the tools — and education dollars — they need to help their students succeed.

WHITMER FLOATS IDEA OF $500 CHECKS, BUT THAT BARELY FOOTS THE GROCERY BILL

The political winds are shifting and Governor Whitmer – who has vetoed every tax cutand attempt to provide relief to the Michigan families struggling with rising prices in the economy her policies created – suddenly loves the idea of $500 “rebates.”

It’s not hard to see through this election year stunt. You can always count on Governor Whitmer to do whatever it takes to advance her own political standing, even if that means cutting you a check with your own money.

We applaud Republicans in Lansing for proposing meaningful tax relief for families, workers and seniors, while Whitmer shows her desperation to slow her falling poll numbers.
