Lansing, MI – Michigan taxpayers have many questions for Governor Whitmer.
The Governor is set to give her 7th State of the State Address tonight, and undoubtedly Whitmer will try to paint a picture of Michigan through rose-colored glasses. But many Michiganders are facing a bleak reality, and have pressing questions for Governor Whitmer on the state of Michigan:
- Why are Michigan roads crumbling faster than they’re being fixed?
- Why do we need tax hikes to fix the roads, when spending in Lansing has increased 43% since Whitmer took office?
- Why should we continue to waste billions of tax dollars on corporate handouts, when history clearly shows they have a terrible return on investment?
- Why has Governor Whitmer failed to deliver nearly half of her promises to Michigan taxpayers, after more than 6 years on the job?
- Why are student test scores declining in the face of significant education spending increases?
- Why would we throw tax dollars at the housing crisis instead of eliminating red tape for everyone, which could cut housing costs by 23%?
- Why is Michigan’s population growth lagging, while conservative-led states are booming?
- Why is Michigan’s unemployment rate among the worst in the nation?
“Today the state of Michigan leaves much to be desired. Despite years on the job, Governor Whitmer has failed to deliver on major promises she made to the public, or offer tangible solutions for the biggest concerns of Michigan taxpayers,” said Zach Rudat, Advocacy Director for Michigan Freedom Fund. “Governor Whitmer’s address will undoubtedly be high on poll-tested rhetoric but light on substance or solutions. Will Whitmer use this address to acknowledge her own failures, change course, and work with Republicans to deliver common sense solutions?”
Governor Whitmer’s State of the State Address will be tonight at 7 pm.
