Senate Democrats Struck Down Multiple Amendments That Would Have Brought Tax Relief to all Michiganders

LANSING, MI – Today, Senate Democrats voted against an income tax reduction for all Michiganders, an increase in the child tax credit, an increase in the personal exemption, and a tax break for all Michigan seniors. Instead, Senate Democrats insisted on carving out special deals for their allies, benefitting the few at the expense of the many.

Michigan Freedom Fund Executive Director Sarah Anderson provided the following statement in response:

“When the state is sitting on a $9 billion surplus, and inflation is running rampant, Democrats would rather limit tax relief to their political allies than help all Michiganders when they need it most. Senate Republicans offered a tax cut for all Michigan residents, and every single Democrat voted no. Today Senate Democrats made it abundantly clear: everyday Michiganders are on their own.”
