Freedom Fund: End The Forced Masking of Kids In Whitmer’s Michigan
LANSING, MI – Students in one of Michigan’s largest school districts have staged a walkout to protest forced masking requirements.
While Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Attorney General Dana Nessel and others have made headlines for choosing not to wear a mask in public, school bureaucrats and Whitmer’s union allies have kept these student mask mandates in place despite scientific evidence that forced masking is harmful to children’s emotional health and academic development.
“Michigan students are suffering academically and emotionally because of forced masking in the state’s largest school districts while Governor Whitmer refuses to stand up for our kids,” said Tori Sachs, executive director of the Michigan Freedom Fund. “Whitmer should demand bureaucrats and union leaders end the harmful forced masking of kids or allow parents access to money to send their kids to schools that work for them. It’s time to put parents back in charge of their kids’ health and education, and end the forced masking of students in our schools.”
Whitmer’s Michigan Democrat Party came under fire earlier this year for a Facebook post claiming that parents shouldn’t have a say in their kids’ education. Whitmer also vetoed scholarships for struggling readers and opportunity accounts that would have provided money to families for tutoring, Wi-Fi and laptops, textbooks, mental health services and tuition at a school of their choosing.
Many schools districts in Michigan still require masks, including schools in Adrian, Ann Arbor, Detroit, East Lansing, Ferndale, Flint, Kalamazoo, Lansing and Ypsilanti.
