Lansing, MI – Grand Rapids is reportedly considering becoming a sanctuary city, endangering public safety and jeopardizing federal dollars right in the heart of West Michigan.

Senate Democrat Leader Winnie Brinks has previously dismissed the looming threat of the Biden Border Crisis, falsely claiming “sanctuary cities aren’t even a thing.” But now that the dangerous policy is knocking at her door, West Michigan voters would love to know where she and her West Michigan colleagues stand on this crucial decision.

“West Michigan voters were loud and clear last fall: they want to see government at all levels return to basics, put taxpayers first, and work together to protect our communities. Grand Rapids becoming a sanctuary city does the complete opposite of all those directives from the public,” said Zach Rudat, Advocacy Director for Michigan Freedom Fund. “West Michigan is all too familiar with the consequences of “leaders” burying their heads in the sand when it comes to illegal immigration. Will Senator Brinks and her West Michigan Democrat colleagues speak up and stop the Grand Rapids City Council? Or will they double down on a failed agenda that will cost their community in more ways than one?”

In addition to the crime threat, Grand Rapids could lose all its federal funding under a recent executive order from President Donald Trump.
